The travel industry has gone an outrageous boom over a decade. As Indian has access to greater disposable incomes, more people are packing their bags and heading out to explore exotic destinations. It has also been going a massive shift with a plethora of options for customers to choose from. Also, the new generation is more tech-savvy and uses apps heavily rather than word-of-mouth recommendations.

 

According to government statistics in 2017, the annual growth rate of domestic travelers stood at 17.2% and has grown to over 4.8 million from the year before. India’s domestic travel market is on an accelerated path with the travel market all set to grow at 11%-11.5% to $ 48 billion by 2020 according to Google India’s report. It is also estimated that one in three hotel rooms will be booked online by the year 2020- a clear indicator of the growing importance of digital in travel research, planning and booking.
